American Black Hereford Association

By using a Registered Black Hereford Bull on a set of commercial black cows, you can eliminate red baldie calves. Nearly any sale barn in America will pull the red baldie calves off a set of calves from the same herd and sell the blacks and black baldie calves for more money. Herefords have always been known for their feed efficiency and docile temperament. Black Herefords are known for the same traits plus "color you can count on."

The first Black Herefords to qualify for registration were recorded in 1997. In 2000, the Association installed a customized breed software. It can track herd and breedwide performance data and generates pedigrees. In 2003, Black Herefords received international breed designation by the National Association of Animal Breeds. In 2005, the breed implemented its own EPD’s. Today there are breeders in several states. Check the membership list on their Web site for the latest details.
